Parker Rose was very talkative as we arrived at the river today for our run, and play session. And by “our” run, I mean me running and her riding. And by “our” play session, I mean her throwing rocks into the river and me supplying the ammo. (Sorry the vid is sideways. Still used to my flip camera I guess and I took this with my phone)

Speaking of trips to the river and throwing rocks, here is another photo of her throwing rocks at the river from our outing yesterday.

On a completely separate note, we are having trouble with PR throwing toys, food, and other sundry items in the house. We are completely baffled as to how she learned this behavior. I’ll put up another blog post once we figure out the solution.

Fun in the puddles

Parker Rose went to our friends’ son’s birthday party over the weekend. It was a bit cold and wet but the kids didn’t seem to mind. PR certainly didn’t and spent most of her time splashing in puddles. I gave up pretty quick on keeping her dry.

I realize that the last two pictures I have posted are of P Rose from behind. I’ll try to catch up with her one of these days and get a picture of her sweet face.

Snowpocalypse 2011

We got a bit of snow and a healthy coating of ice here in Atlanta. It sure looked pretty, but it was a bit tough to move around in. With temps staying below freezing pretty much all week, there has been little chance for the road conditions to improve. Schools are closed for the fourth day in a row tomorrow.

We tried to get Parker Rose out in it, but it was just a bit to slippery and crunchy for her to walk. Here are some videos of the attempt.

First we have the waiting while everyone gets bundled up. Parker Rose is ready to go and draws a bit before we go:

Now here is some attempted walking. As you can hear we sprung for some special effects people to dub in ridiculously loud ice-crunching noises:

Before our trip to Minnesota, we thought we would test out some bundling strategies for Parker. Here are the results of one such experiment. It certainly scored high on the cuteness scale:

A few weeks before we went to Minnesota, P Rose and Auntie L played dress up. Most of the stuffed animals in the house ended up clothed in baby outfits and socks. Even Parker Rose couldn’t make it out unscathed:

Playing in the snow

It actually snowed a few times in Atlanta last winter, but Parker was too young to walk around in it. This year, she came prepared to Minnesota with some great faux fur boots just made for tromping through the snow. Here are few shots of her in Nana’s backyard during our Thankgiving trip to St. Paul (click to enlarge the pics):

Trick or Treat

Sticking with the holiday theme of the last post, but going back almost a month, here are some pictures of Parker’s Halloween. We were invited to a block party just down the street and went down there with a certain little kitty cat named Parker Rose:

I’m dreaming of a white . . . Thanksgiving?

We arrived in Minnesota on the Monday before Thanksgiving to temperatures in the teens and plenty of snow on the ground. Haven’t they heard of fall around here? I guess this is their version of fall before they go into straight up arctic winter.

When I could manage, I got Parker Rose out in the cold, with multiple layers of fleece and doubled up hats and mittens. Mostly, though she stayed inside and played with all the toys her Nana bought in preparation for our arrival.

We all shopped and planned for assembling the big meal. With a team effort, we managed to pull it off. I even succeeded in avoiding the hospital this year, so it was my first Thanksgiving with Parker.

After the meal, I felt the need to move and work off at least some of the calories consumed. It was cold, so we bundled up to head out. In the end, I think the bundling took longer than the walk itself.

Beth and I were out with Parker Rose the other day and figured we would stop back by the polo field in Vinings. I didn’t have my camera, but got a few pics and some video with my phone:

Parker enjoyed seeing the horses, enough to cry as we walked back to the car and left them behind. She may not quite get it though, since her parting words to the horses as we turned to go were, “Bye bye doggy”.
